Abstract

LIMA, Vinícius Moreira. From the master to the analyst: to give up the exercise of one’s. Reverso [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.78, pp. 63-69. ISSN 0102-7395.

This work is based on Lacan’s 1958 statement according to which the analyst’s power operates under the condition of giving up its exercise. Having Dora’s case as a guiding, we try to articulate this idea to the elaboration of the discourses in the 1970s, period in which Lacan is dedicated to formalizing a clinic beyond the Father. Hence, there where the master gives a command, seeking to exercise the power that is supposed to him, the analytic discourse operates in its reverse, asserting the cause of desire while giving up the exercise of its power

Keywords : Master; Analyst; Power; Discourse.
