Abstract

ROCHA, Gabrielle Leite; LANZA, Hugo Ribeiro  and  RIBEIRO, Sarug Dagir. Transphobia, masculinities and violence from the perspective of psychoanalysis. Reverso [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.79, pp. 67-74. ISSN 0102-7395.

We intend to discuss transphobia using the theory of generalized seduction and Jean Laplanche's category of translational codes, as well as the notion of frameworks proposed by Judith Butler to understand the violent stances of men against transsexual women. Besides, we will discuss the role of narcissistic shuddering of male identities as one of the possible psychological causes of the violence committed by cis men against trans and transvestite women.

Keywords : Transphobia; Translating codes; Psychoanalysis; Identity shaking.
