Abstract

RIBEIRO, Otacílio José. An unprecised law: the ethical and moral dilemma of Heloise. Reverso [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.79, pp. 75-80. ISSN 0102-7395.

The text discusses metapsychological aspects of Heloise, female protagonist of the film In the name of God. The cinematographic production portrays the ethical and moral dilemma of the character who is not resigned to the moralist and conservative society of the 12th century. Because she is misunderstood, she lives in conflict with the law. The observed ethical problem is centered on "giving up your desire", causing symptoms in Heloise (LACAN, [1959-1960] 1997), p. 382). It is necessary to build a new type of engagement, looking for signs of sinthome in history. What are the possibilities for a new Heloise to deal with her superegoic instance from her Id, making it possible to unfold her Ego again? In this bias, the meaning of this text is to open the discussion about the contribution of psychoanalytic knowledge in the erection of an ethics for contemporary society that can contribute to the creation of ethical values that take into account the subject's desire.
