Abstract

PIMENTA, Arlindo Carlos. Repetition and transference in psychoanalytic theory and practice. Reverso [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.80, pp. 63-72. ISSN 0102-7395.

The author studies repetition in both Freud and Lacan, developing relatively parallel paths in the work of these authors. In Freud the path of remembrance (reproducing) to repetition (acting) is emphasized and, in Lacan, from the symbolic to the real. The Freudian turn point with the Beyond the Pleasure Principle (1920) would correspond to the Lacanian turn of 1964 (Seminar 11) and its subsequent developments (from the phenomenon to the structure).

Keywords : Recollection; Repetition; Resistance /transference; Death drive; Repetition compulsion; Symbolic repetition; The One (S1); Repetition as a structural fact.
