Abstract

SARTORI, João Eduardo Torrecillas  and  CECCARELLI, Paulo Roberto. Feminility (1933): a "subversive turn" in freudian theorization and the development of gender in psychoanalysis. Reverso [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.81, pp. 59-66. ISSN 0102-7395.

Freud did not conceptualize the gender issues, but in the 1933 text Femininity, the conventionality of the western conception of masculinity and femininity is evident. In the present article, we sustain that, although the gender category has not been discussed in Freudian theory, the 1933 text provides elements usable in a gender elaboration in Psychoanalysis. We also believe that certain Freudian theories from 1933 were used to deconstruct the gender, decades later. Femininity, then, would correspond to a "subversive turn" in certain Freudian conceptions.

Keywords : Freud; Gender; Femininity.
