This essay discusses the function of naming as an important resource for stabilizing psychosis, based on a fragment of a clinical case in which the subject elaborates subjective solutions based on self-nomination. Based on Freudo-Lacanian propositions about psychosis, it starts from a discussion about the psychological category of giftedness to try to demonstrate how psychoanalysis can be seen as an important tool for the treatment of anxiety when listening to subjects named as gifted.
