Abstract

Chico Buarque composed the triptych O que será for Bruno Barreto's movie based on a novel by Jorge Amado's, We gathered psychoanalytic comments about love triangle between Vadinho, Dr, Teodoro e Dona Flor, Further, we have interpreted the 1976 movie as a metaphoric parricide with its underlying social criticisms, In the end, we have discussed musicological aspects of Chico's enigmatic song, which hides the meaning of love as it were in Camões's poetry and in the composer's political concerns about resistance against his contemporaneous military government in Brazil.
