Abstract

BANDEIRA, Vivian de Freitas  and  FORTIM, Ivelise. The teacher-student relationship: el arquétipo puer-senex. Junguiana [online]. 2018, vol.36, n.1, pp. 27-36. ISSN 0103-0825.

This article aimed to perform a review of Jungian literature on the teacher-student relationship and its interfaces with the puer-senex archetype. The study becomes relevant as the quality of the teacher-student relationship interferes in the teaching-learning process. We noticed a change in the figure of the teacher as central, as well as in that of the student, towards greater emphasis of the relationship that occurs between them in the educational process. We observed that when a polarization of the archetype occurs, in which the senex is associated with the learned teacher and the puer is associated with the apprentice-ignorant, there is a split of the archetype implying in a teacher who has ceased learning and is free from imperfections, and a student who depends entirely on the master to gain knowledge. Finally, we suggest an increase in the number of studies in this field, since research that establishes an interlocution between analytical psychology and education is scarce, and when it exists, it is poorly systematized and consistent.
