PORTO, Bráulio. Exile and the kingdom: integration of an exiled family. Junguiana [online]. 2020, vol.38, n.1, pp. 125-138. ISSN 2595-1297.

The subject of exile is one of the ubiquitous themes in the World. It insinuates itself into events that affect people's daily lives and the course of countries. Beyond politics, a psychological reading enables us to reflect on this impact, not only on the individual or collective but also on what relates to the exiled family. The notion of a mythical or archetypal family would help to clarify what emerges from the contact between two communities and the challenges of their integration. The study of a specific case - Portuguese families, adjusting to life in the French-speaking region of Switzerland - reveals a pattern reproduced elsewhere. The cultural shock brought by an approach of distinct dynamics results in psychological resistance on both sides. The work with Portuguese adolescents under analysis allows us to glimpse the intertwining of this query with personal psychologies, pointing to its creative solution through the resolution of conflicts and openness to diversity, carried out by the new generations. ■
