PEREIRA, Thalita Galeno; ARAUJO, Ludgleydson Fernandes de; NEGREIROS, Fauston  and  BARROS NETO, Raimundo Nonato de Sousa. Analysis of sexual risk behavior for hiv infection in adults in the general population. Psico (Porto Alegre) [online]. 2016, vol.47, n.4, pp. 249-258. The aim of this study was to identify and compare sexual risk behavior and its relationship to gender, age and religion. The study included 596 adults from the general population: ages ranged from 18 to 73 years (M = 27.31 SD = 9.37), 59.2% were female, 76.2% had a single marital status and 83.2% declared themselves as heterosexual. Questionnaires on sociodemographic data and sexual behavior were used as the instrument. For data analysis the statistical package SPSS version 22 was used. It was found that sexual relations under the influence of psychoactive substances were prevalent among men. With regard to differences in sexual behavior of age groups, the study found that the majority of people in the general population aged 18-41 had an active sex life. It is expected that these data may support future health interventions to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
