NEUMANN, Angélica Paula  e  WAGNER, Adriana. Features of clients attended in family therapy in a school clinic. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.2, pp. 63-81. ISSN 0103-5665.

The study aimed to identify the features of clients attended in family therapy in a school clinic in Porto Alegre (RS). Structured interviews were realized with 41 adults referred to family therapy in a school clinic. Data was analyzed by Content Analysis and descriptive statistics. Results showed that the families lived with their problems for years before beginning family therapy. Women were the ones who decided to seek help in most cases, and also were the ones who most tried to solve the problems previously. Most part of complaining was about children, but the causes attributed to these complaints were centered on parental behavior. These data allow us to reflect on the clinical practice with families attended in school clinics, especially about the need to involve all family members on the therapeutic process. Furthermore, it indicates that the transition of the complaint to the real demand of the families must begin during the evaluation period.

Palavras-chave : school clinic; family therapy; family features.
