Marriage is still being desired by young people today, however there are new demands related to individual projects of the spouses, the importance of professional career, which may be reflected in the quality of the relationship, especially in its early years. In this context, the aim of this qualitative study was to analyze the levels of marital quality in the early years of marriage in dual-career couples. It was a multiple case study with five heterosexual couples in the first union, with up to five years of marital relationships, aged 24 and 34 years, dual career, childless and living in Porto Alegre / RS, and the metropolitan area. The instruments were: sociodemographic questionnaire, semi-structured interviews with the couple and individual semi-structured interviews with each spouse. Through the analysis of the cases could be identified that couples report high levels of marital quality. Related to the conflict and communication, it is noticed that reach deep levels of communication is a difficult task, however, when achieved, this seems to contribute as positive strategy for conflict resolution.
