Historically, the consideration of the association of motherhood as something inherent to the feminine identity is present in feminist studies. As psychoanalysis has historically constituted a field of knowledge that promoted several views on the social role of women, the present study seeks to understand if there is a possible interlocution between the current output of feminist studies about motherhood and how it is envisioned by psychoanalysis, relying mainly on Winnicottian theory. In other words, it aims to establish whether a "Winnicott's maternity" is possible under a feminist perspective. After a brief historical review of the relation between feminism and psychoanalysis, Donald W. Winnicott's concept of femininity and "good enough mother" is presented, making a distinction between his theories and others as well as possible flexibilities which his studies proposed. It was possible to identify the terms of innatism, full attention, and "regular mother" as obstacles to a possible interweaving between Winnicott's theory and contemporary feminist studies.
