Abstract

MARTINS, Eduardo de Carvalho  and  VIANA, Cassio Vinícius Afonso. Childhood representation and representativeness of children: ethical-political stances. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2020, vol.32, n.1, pp. 151-172. ISSN 0103-5665.  http://dx.doi.org/10.33208/PC1980-5438v0032n01A07.

This paper proposes a discussion, based on the experiences of the Camará Calunga Institute of São Vicente, SP, of the fundamentals and effects of participatory methodologies with children and teenagers, regarding their insertion in the production and discussion mechanisms in the field of public policies. To that end, we focus on their presence in events designed to discuss the rights of children and teenagers, such as the process of setting up a carnival 'bloco' in defense of these rights. It was possible identify some fundamentals based on the criticism of the forms of childhood political representation, many of them linked to representations about childhood from an "adult-centered" viewpoint. It is concluded that participatory methodologies played a fundamental role in the ethical-political stances of children and teenagers, pointing to the importance of criticism in relation to the symbolic and actual spaces that childhood has been holding in public life in relation to the forms of political participation. Altering the modes of interaction with the children has contributed to new modes of implication of children subjects.
