Abstract

FERNANDEZ, Daniela. Between affections and authority: Parents' discourses about the adolescence of their sons and daughters. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2020, vol.32, n.3, pp. 433-451. ISSN 0103-5665.  http://dx.doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0032n03a01.

Addressing social and cultural changes that have occurred in the past years and their incidence in how the psychological problems have been constructed, this paper proposes to analyze how the role of parents in adolescence mental health is constructed, through a review of interview extracts with parents. Extracts show a dichotomic dialogue between two positions: on the one hand, from the idea of affections and psychologizing adolescent discomfort, and on the other hand, from the need of standing as an authority who sets limits to such expressions.

Keywords : adolescence; clinical psychology; parenthood.
