Abstract

CHABERT, Catherine. Men don’t want to recover: resistance in psychoanalysis. J. psicanal. [online]. 2006, vol.39, n.70, pp. 203-224. ISSN 0103-5835.

The author aims to examine the different aspects of resistance in Freud as well as along the analytic process. The place and function of fantasy and psychosexuality are analyzed in the transference situation, making use primarily of the fantasy presented in "A child is spanked". Special attention is paid to the negative therapeutic reaction as well as to enactment, giving evidence of two apparently contradictory destinations of the treatment, linked to the significance of representing the loss of both the object and associated affects.

Keywords : Resistance; Fantasy; Affection; Transference; Negative therapeutic reaction; Passivity; Spanked child.
