Abstract

NAFFAH NETO, Alfredo. Psychoanalytic research. J. psicanal. [online]. 2006, vol.39, n.70, pp. 279-288. ISSN 0103-5835.

This article discusses the internal relationship between research and psychoanalysis. It describes two kinds of psychoanalytic research: the listening-research, which is excellently clinical research, and the investigative-research, that deals with theoretical and/or methodological psychoanalytic issues. It also describes a third kind of research, one that deals with psychoanalysis as a theme, without being properly psychoanalytical research. It then tries to characterize the first two kinds of research in their dialectic relationship. Finally, it discusses the difficulties that are proper to them.

Keywords : Listening-research; Investigative-research; Research problems; Psychoanalytical methodology.
