Abstract

BIRMAN, Joel. Ties and knots in contemporary times. J. psicanal. [online]. 2007, vol.40, n.72, pp.47-62. ISSN 0103-5835.

The aim of this essay is to carry out a critical reading of the contemporary forms of subjectivity brought about by the new forms of family organization and conjugal ties. For this purpose, a psychoanalytic analysis is made in conjunction with historical and anthropological understandings, to depict the complex picture in which today’s forms of discontent are inserted. In this context, Foucault’s hypothesis on the bio politics of modern times holds a fundamental place in our analysis.

Keywords : Bio politics; Discontent; Contemporary times; Narcissism; Borderline.
