Abstract

ALTOUNIAN, Janine. Terror and forgetting: literature as a rescue of the father’s figure. J. psicanal. [online]. 2007, vol.40, n.72, pp.215-226. ISSN 0103-5835.

Based on the records of a genocide survivor the author works on the traits of terror transmitted to his descendents. She shows that to preserve his life the trauma unconsciously transmitted to his son provokes an avoidance characterized by a rupture of bonds that weave his affections and it will later repeat in the next generations as a symptom of an apparent forgetfulness or a blank memory. It still shows as a follow up, that the literature may restore the affective and textual weave which has been broken.

Keywords : Trauma; Terror; Genocide; Forgetting; Literature.
