Abstract

GOMBEROFF, Mario. Relations between training analysis and the institute. J. psicanal. [online]. 2008, vol.41, n.74, pp. 113-120. ISSN 0103-5835.

Training analysis is different from a personal analysis since it demands freedom from both participants to initiate and finish it and to choose each other. In training analysis, the candidate is previously selected by other persons and must choose among training analysts leading to the interruption of an analysis in order to initiate other one with the training analyst. It is postulated that the Institute’s should dedicate itself to the teaching of psychoanalysis and to rigorous evaluation of its teaching members, while analysis should be left for the analysts and candidates criteria, thus abolishing training analysis. In the service of the Institute and the ostensible power of the training analysts, training analysis maintains itself inaltered. With its idealizations, mutual narcissistic identifications and its characteristic fetish, it fulfills its aims of maintaining the minimum standards with more precision becoming very conservative and, paradoxically transgressing, since it preserves psychoanalysis from any possible innovation. All this at the expense of the candidates who must restrict their choices and freedom, submitting to the institution by means of their representative, the training analyst, who shall also do the same.
