Abstract

MENEZES, Luis Carlos. Articulation between the person and the analyst at work. J. psicanal. [online]. 2008, vol.41, n.75, pp. 65-73. ISSN 0103-5835.

The analyst, as the main object of the analysand’s transference investment, tends to become immobilized in imaginary positions that freeze the analyst as a person in certain roles. The biggest challenge in the analytic work consists in being able to accept being the person the patient addresses himself to, and at the same time, in being able to take a step away and respond from another place. This is what enables the patient to have an insight of what was going on in the transference. The nature of the transference is considered in its simple conception, as repetition and complexity, in a metapsychological perspective.

Keywords : Transference; Analyst as a person; Analytic work.
