Abstract

SCHAFFA, Sandra. Medea, the feminine. J. psicanal. [online]. 2009, vol.42, n.76, pp. 51-64. ISSN 0103-5835.

Hunger of love, the expression gives name to the suffering experienced by many women in analysis. In the tragedy Medea it is possible to recognize the ways by which one of the destinies of femininity gets structured which Freud named destiny compulsion. Dora and a male patient allows us to recognize the feminine as a savage dimension of transference. Medea and her unsurmountable archaism denotes the transference much beyond any relational psychology.

Keywords : Feminine; Fate neurosis; Medea; Castration complex; Archaism.
