Abstract

SAFRA, Gilberto. Masculine and feminine registers in the constitution of the self. J. psicanal. [online]. 2009, vol.42, n.76, pp. 77-89. ISSN 0103-5835.

The article discusses the masculine and feminine registers in the constitution of the self, using Donald W. Winnicott theoretical work as a fundamental reference. The argumentation line in the text follows the axis of the maturation process: the human events along timeline. It begins presenting the concepts of the pure female and male, related to the two fundamental dimensions in the constitution of the self: Being and Doing. The article approaches then the personalization process considering the meaningful participation of the masculine and feminine elements in the imaginative elaboration of the body. In the end, the masculine and feminine participations are discussed considering the triangulation process correspondent to the oedipal moment, and also the way in which these two registers are presented in the actual social context.
