Contrary to the phallic-castrated pairing which reinforces the social organization and its power relationships setting up a masculine-feminine pairing relationship is a psychical co-creation which implies in the recognition and confrontation of the otherness in the difference of sexes. The modality and quality of the sexual, emotional and social relationships that are set up between men and women bear witness to “the work of civilization” (Kulturarbeit).
