Abstract

MAGDALENO JUNIOR, Ronis. The construction of feminine: beyond the phallus. J. psicanal. [online]. 2009, vol.42, n.77, pp. 89-106. ISSN 0103-5835.

Based on the clinical material of psychoanalysis care of a patient who had a hysterical structure marked by an important frigidity and fears related to pregnancy, the author proposes a discussion about what it is to become a woman. From the works of Freud, he explores a theory on the female desire, pointing to issues which have been left open, or upon which false conclusion and conflits have been created. Following Lacan’s ideas as well as other psychoanalysis authors of the French school, the author proposes expanding the knowledge of what a woman’s desire is, building up to what goes beyond the phallic logic and referring to a need of setting herself up from a non representable gap.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Femininity; Woman; Motherhood; Castration complex.
