Abstract

NAFFAH NETO, Alfredo. The functions of psychoanalytical interpretation in different kinds of transference: the contributions of D. W. Winnicott. J. psicanal. [online]. 2010, vol.43, n.78, pp. 79-90. ISSN 0103-5835.

This article presents, firstly, the conception of transference neurosis and counter-transference as defined by Winnicott and the functions of interpretation in this context. Afterwards, it points to situations of transference neurosis with psychotic patients and discusses the interpretation in these conditions, presenting a clinical case by Winnicott as illustration. Finally, it defines transference psychosis and the clinical management it implies, from the author’s point of view.
