Abstract

BARISON, Osvaldo Luís. To score a goal: latency and gender identity. J. psicanal. [online]. 2010, vol.43, n.79, pp.83-99. ISSN 0103-5835.

Interrogations about the definition of gender are of great interest for nowadays psychoanalysis and also the fact that masculinity hasn’t been getting as much theoretical attention as femininity. From sessions of ludotherapy with children in the latency period, specially through button soccer playing, the access into the “world of soccer” is understood as a potential space for masculinization. The author discusses the technique of working with children in the latency period, soccer as symbolic expression and the process of becoming a man.

Keywords : Period of latency; Game therapy technique; Soccer; Identity of gender; Masculinity.
