Abstract

TANIS, Bernardo. Notes on temporalities in psychoanalytic practice. J. psicanal. [online]. 2011, vol.44, n.80, pp. 115-126. ISSN 0103-5835.

The author proposes a reflection on the heterogeneity of the temporal processes which conduct the psyche and the transferential situation. Two ways of conceiving these processes are identified, in terms of continuity and in terms of the processes of re-signification a posteriori (après-coup). A clinical vignette and a short story by Julio Cortázar illustrate these processes. Both temporal movements are articulated in the analytical process, creating conditions for the temporalization, historicizing and symbolization of the repressed and of the nonmetabolized.

Keywords : Temporality; Memory; Transference.
