Abstract

MELEGA, Marisa P.. The literary origins of the psychoanalytic model of mind. J. psicanal. [online]. 2011, vol.44, n.80, pp. 239-255. ISSN 0103-5835.

The author approaches the evolution of mind’s model through Bion’s epistemological model - where thoughts are viewed as creating meanings - and Meltzer’s contribution to the theory of creativity - in which the creativity depends on the mental creative function of internal objects. Regarding the psychoanalytic model of mind as an esthetic and imaginative process, finding remarkable similarities with literary experiences, the author also presents a summary of Meg Harris Williams’ research in the literary origins of the psychoanalytical model of mind in English Literature.

Keywords : Psychoanalytic model of mind; Creativity; Esthetic conflict; Literature.
