Abstract

PARAT, Hélène. The erotic maternal and its crossroads. J. psicanal. [online]. 2011, vol.44, n.81, pp. 127-144. ISSN 0103-5835.

This article studies the incidence of breast-feeding and weaning over the mother’s psychic economy. It also shows the importance of instinctual revivals at the motherhood period, recognized by a fantasmatic of liquids that infiltrates maternal psychic functioning. Maternal depressions during the weaning period are understandable, regarded as disfunctionings of a subtle balance. Particular identification modalities, of a vampiric nature, are acting on certain puerperal depressions, suggesting questions about transgenerational transmissions identified in analytic treatments. Through the feeding problem, this clinical research aims to separate crossroads, and separate itself from a phallic logic view of the breast: the “orgy of breast-feeding” is that of a multiple breast, oral, anal, phallic or genital, a conflictive and enjoyable breast, complexifying the dialectics between a nourishing and an erotic breast.

Keywords : Breast; Breast-feeding; Partial instincts; Infantile sexuality; Motherhood.
