This paper is a critical reading of Sônia Azambuja’s Presence and abscence, partners in symbolization that envisages the extraction of an idea of authorship - intimately linked to the process of symbol formation and creativity - which is implicit in her writings and in her professional career, with her patients and in the São Paulo Psychoanalytic Society.
