Psychiatry has been transforming its grounds through the 20th century, especially since the 1980s, and the critical analysis of this transformation show that it was mainly due to political and economical rather than scientific factors. Psychoanalytical practice and any future collaboration with psychiatry can draw benefits from a specific and clear delimitation of the epistemological field of psychoanalysis.
