Abstract

VERDI, Marly Terra. The myth of the argonauts and the crossing until the conquest of adolescence. J. psicanal. [online]. 2014, vol.47, n.87, pp. 111-128. ISSN 0103-5835.

This paper presents the analysis of the trajectory of a young man that due to primitive mental experiences, could not properly transpose the entry barriers into adolescence. The mythic story of the argonauts on their courageous journey permit us to discuss and to point out the rough seas that all adolescents meet on their path, the "islands" that can contribute and make them give up their so promising and frightening journey through life. The teen "Argo" heroes are compared to the individual terrors that can prevent this crossing. Psychoanalysis is the weaving that enables the relationship between the clinic and the myth, individual and group. It is the experience of falling in love and being loved which will lead to the final acceptance of the otherness and the discovery of a transformed, but recognized body. The sessions' accounts allow the tracking of the fears of leaving the familiar pier to live the adventure of life, experienced by this patient during his analysis.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; adolescence; myth; argonauts; development.
