Abstract

RIBEIRO, Marina Ferreira da Rosa. Reflections on conjugality and parenthood: A kaleidoscope of family formations. J. psicanal. [online]. 2016, vol.49, n.91, pp. 97-109. ISSN 0103-5835.

In this paper, the author presents a reflection on the contemporary ways of building families. Starting from understanding the complexity of intersubjective ties and their polysemic and potentially changeable features, the author believes that intersubjective and intrasubjective aspects are inseparable. The author writes about some features of contemporary family as follows, horizontal and fraternal (or brotherly), rearranged and networked, and usually with two or three successive marriages and their respective children. The author also discusses the issue of pathologizing the unknown. This pathologization arises from the anguishes of being in the presence of the new (or not familiar, not yet experienced). Freud's concepts of psychic bisexuality and the term "neosexualities", suggested by Mc Dougall, are used for comprehending new forms of conjugality and parenthood.

Keywords : conjugality; parenthood; intersubjective ties; family formations.
