Abstract

BIZ, Ricardo. Sonnet-session. J. psicanal. [online]. 2017, vol.50, n.92, pp. 77-89. ISSN 0103-5835.

The author compares a psychoanalytic session to the structure of a sonnet. Both the first verse of the sonnet and the first significant speech of the patient introduce the theme and give an idea of what is going to be dissected in the poem and in the session, respectively. As the sonnet and the session develop, many elaborations, names, adjectives, and conceptualizations occur; they prepare the ground to a conclusion, which may be more defined, inconclusive, unexpected, paradoxical, and even deconstructive. In this paper, the author addresses issues and ways of functioning that look quite common for both poets and patients, by combining poetry, dreams, and psychoanalysis.

Keywords : psychoanalytic session; sonnet; psychoanalysis; poetry; dream.
