Abstract

TAVARES, José Luiz Cordeiro Dias. I killed a lion: some reflections on the constitution of the self and on the symbolism in the work of the dream. J. psicanal. [online]. 2019, vol.52, n.96, pp. 247-261. ISSN 0103-5835.

Based on the narrative of a dream, some thoughts are organized around psychoanalysis´ concepts such as the constitution of the Ego and its relation to narcissism, possible connections between culture and subjectivation, observations about the consequences of adoption processes, considerations about symbolization in the work of the dream articulating collective representations highlighting the myth of Oedipus as one of the pillars of civilization and subjectivity and, also, the observation that, although new family structures have arisen in the contemporaneity, the reference to the nuclei related to the prohibitions of the incest and parricide do remain in structuring social order.

Keywords : dream; symbolism; narcissism; adoption; Oedipus.
