Abstract

ALARCAO, Gustavo Gil. Slavery, prejudice and psychoanalysis. J. psicanal. [online]. 2019, vol.52, n.97, pp. 227-240. ISSN 0103-5835.

This text discusses aspects of enslavement, including psychoanalytic enslavement to ideals. The article was written from the consequences of the psychoanalytical discussions of a clinical case in different meetings: São Paulo, Fortaleza and Cape Verde. To this case, other examples of daily enslavement and its historical permanence in our society, as well as its introjected presence in ourselves, were added. Drawing on the notion of Civilization and Its Discontents, it is proposed that the omission about the consequences of enslavement, specifically on the enslaved, dilutes and obfuscates very concrete problems.

Keywords : slavery; politics and psychoanalysis; perversion; uneasiness; racism.
