In the context of recent episodes in the history of Brazil, this article intends to reflect on the apparent passivity in the face of situations of violence that threaten the social pact. Based on the idea that certain insults to specific people or groups are insults to the community, this paper asks if indifference would be denial of the finding of the original helplessness of the human being. To this end, it develops reflection around the notion of identification and disidentification.
