OTTALAGANO, Cesar A.; SZTERLING, Gecel Luzer  e  SZTERLING, Fajga. Generations conflict emerging from new ideas. J. psicanal. [online]. 2022, vol.55, n.102, pp. 243-259. ISSN 0103-5835.

The authors had elaborated the two official themes of the IV Brazilian Congress of Psychoanalysis as they were one functional unit and characterized by interdependence and bi-univocity. Their purpose is to in investigate the factors that may obstruct or delay the progress of the psychoanalytic's investigation object. The support of this study is their clinical experience and their experience in the institutional environment and with different types of establishment. They assume as a methodological reference, the understanding of the psychoanalytic object, the idea that it is no investigation of the successive emotional experiences and sensorial impressions that are developed between two people, the patient and the analyst, from whom one can learn by experience. Having as referential context the setting, as work tool the interpretation and as investigation arts, transference. They have given the-most importance to the analyst and his institutions. They define endopsychic conflict, new idea, new and old generation and the conflict between them. They understand that the generations conflict is not characterized by one conflict emerging from ages difference, but that is characterized by the meeting's crushing or by the living together of different personality structures. To be of the new generation is to have a flexible mental structure able to receive, to conceive and to create new ideas emerging from the reformulation or new configuration of the old, while to be of the old generation is to have a rigid mental structure, owner of the conservatory, dogmatic, crystallized and saturated knowing. They found that some of the harmful factors for being of the "new generation" are based on narcissistic, omnipotent nuclei of the self, triggering idealization of the old or the new, rivalry, envy, fear of psychic disruption in front of the new, intolerance to frustration of absolute non-knowledge, filicide and parricide, among others.
