Abstract

COSTA, Dóris Anita Freire. Overcoming limits: Vygotsky's contribution to special education. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2006, vol.23, n.72, pp. 232-240. ISSN 0103-8486.

This text has the aim to show the contribution of Vygotsky to the work with individuals having special educative necessities. Vygotsky's work points out innovative alternatives concerning special education besides offering a new paradigm for the understanding of flowing problems. Vygotsky uses a dialectic prospective approach of the individual and the society as well. By doing so, he concentrates his work considering the individuals' possibilities, not their "deficits" or limitations. He shows that such "deficits" can become a source of development, which contradicts many opposing views.

Keywords : Education; special; Vygotsky; Psychopedagogical intervention.
