RIBAS, Angela; ROSA, Marine Raquel Diniz da  and  KLAGENBERG, Karlin. Evaluation of auditory processing in children with learning difficulties. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2007, vol.24, n.73, pp. 2-8. ISSN 0103-8486.

This paper has as its objective to study the relationship between auditory processing and learning difficulties. Fifty children were selected in the age group from 8 to 15, all suffering from learning difficulties and in the peripheral audiologic evaluation presented auditory thresholds within conventionality. The children were submitted to the specific anamneses and central auditory evaluations. It was observed that 88% of the sample presented alterations in auditory processing and the classification of the results revealed that as regards the degree of processing, 40% of the sample had light alterations, 32% had moderate alterations and 16% had severe alterations. As regards the type, 16% had difficulty in organization, 12% in codification, 20% in de-codification and 40% had difficulties in one or more categories. This data suggests a significant relationship between hearing and learning.
