Abstract

BARBOSA, Laura Monte Serrat. The Epistemology of Psychopedagogy: acknowledging its fundaments, social value and scope of action. Celebrating ABPp - Paraná Sul's 15th Anniversary, 2006. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2007, vol.24, n.73, pp.90-100. ISSN 0103-8486.

The purpose of this study was to find views in scientific texts that were published in the Revista Psicopedagogia over the last six years of themes that were introduced in the three last ABPp Brazilian congresses, bulletins of some ABPp Chapters and the psychopedagogical experience discussed by a group of psychopedagogues in Curitiba, who met in 2003 to review the Epistemology of Psychopedagogy. Despite lacking the stature of an established science, it is possible to ponder on the epistemology of Psychopedagogy as such, given that epistemology is the study of fundaments, of the social value and scope of action of a given area of knowledge. Fundaments presented in the text are conducive for the reader to reflect on the model of understanding of the world, by which many areas of knowledge must be embraced (referred to as the paradigm of conjunction) in the light of present philosophy; on scientific research which point towards approaching the difficulties inherent to the learning process as a natural occurrence rather than a pathology; on differentiated practices in which new discourses are sought. At the conclusion, important issues are raised for psychopedagogues to consider when making a constructive critique of current psychopedagogical praxis.

Keywords : Epistemology; Psychopedagogy; Knowledge.
