Abstract

Results on invention and application of a game with rules, prepared by researchers, involving accents on words in Portuguese are provided. Current essay aims at showing the capacity of improvement on the theme, coupled to the process of pedagogical intervention. Starting point consisted of results in researchers and official data on poor learning performance in several school subject matters. Reflections on teaching methodologies are actually of paramount importance. Several studies have shown that games as didactic resources may improve the students' performance in different areas of knowledge. Pilot test involved three students studying in public schools in Maringá PR Brazil and experiment dealt with the 4th and 5th grade students they were in. Preliminary results demonstrated that pedagogical intervention with game and rules is an asset in the process of conscience-raising on the placing of accents on words and contributes towards the betterment of essential cognitive schemes for knowledge construction. The importance of such methodology for the teaching and learning process within and outside the school is emphasized.
