INTRODUCTION: Currently, integration is a subject frequently discussed and controversial. While that is imposed by the educational system, this doesn't provide the minimum structure for this process to be truly effective. Experiencing this mismatch, are teachers and students with special educational needs. These, off handing being served and those needing to get itself resolutions to the difficulties encountered during the journey. METHODS: The goal of this study was to investigate the knowledge of 34 teachers of municipal schools in the city of Marilia who teach students with hearing loss through self-administered questionnaire that surveyed data and the feelings of teachers to receive the news that will have a disabled child hearing/deaf included, information they already have about disability, the child's individual development, the technological resources available, the field of Brazilian Sign Language and the importance of getting information about the specific issues arising from the hearing loss. RESULTS: After data analysis was possible to prove the necessity and importance of specialist support for the performance of teachers, who mostly know basic information that can be considered essential for the proper development of the student.
