TONIOLO, Cintia Sicchieri  e  CAPELLINI, Simone Aparecida. Developmental coordination disorder: literature review about assessment tools. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2010, vol.27, n.82, pp. 109-116. ISSN 0103-8486.

AIMS: To map the articles published on assessments and scales used for the diagnosis of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) during the first half of 2004 to the first half of 2009 available on PubMed, to descriptively examine specific aspects of the texts: year of publication of research, local, publication media and how data were collected and types of evaluation and scales used for the diagnosis of children with DCD. METHOD: The research in the database began with the search for the following key terms in English and Portuguese: Developmental coordination disorder, assessment, scale, diagnosis, instruments. RESULTS: The results indicated increasing research in the period from 2004 to 2009. The Movement Assessment Battery for Children Test (MABC) was the most used assessment tool in the articles selected for this study. More than 70% of the articles used complementary tests for the detection of motor problems. CONCLUSION: Despite the increase in research on DCD there are still few articles published in Brazil. Regarding the evaluation tools found in the papers, there is a recommendation for the association of motor assessment tools or questionnaires and interviews to investigate the motor behavior of children with parents and teachers to better define the diagnosis of DCD.
