The aim of this study was to present the preliminary result of the Test of Mathematical Ability (THM). Twenty one students were evaluated. The average of correct answers was 34%. The children had difficulty in basic concepts (number and ability to solve mathematical problems that needed reading). It is necessary to continue the study with a larger number of children.
