INTRODUCTION: A collaborative consultation is a proposal of action between educators and specialists, or between two or more partners that work together in making decisions, seeking a common goal, being able to engage skills of these actors, in an attempt to promote independent professional attitudes, guided the development of skills for problem solving, mutual support and shared responsibility. In this dynamic, this study came from an account of lived experience within the graduate Special Education, Federal University of Sao Carlos - PPGEEs / UFSCar in a course called "Advanced Studies", in 2009. OBJECTIVE: To describe and demonstrate, through the reflexive diaries prepared by the teacher, working in partnership between a specialist teacher, speech therapist and the regular school, before the inclusive process of a child with special educational needs. METHODS: The study was conducted in a private school in the interior of Sao Paulo, the data were collected from the teacher's reflective diary for three months of biweekly meetings and analyzes were qualitative. RESULTS: Data revealed by the teacher's reflective journals punctuate the partnership to work with children with special needs, it becomes a valuable perspective to assist and cooperate with the regular school teacher facing the difficulties of language and communication. CONCLUSION: The partnership may occur facilitator, by targeting the difficulties of communication, language and speech, demonstrating that collaborative consultation may potentiate the action of the teacher and involve the whole educational context.
