Abstract

OBJECTIVE: This study has as the main objective to investigate the learning difficulties of youth program participants from Programa de Inspiração Internacional (International Inspiration Program). METHOD: Fifty-nine students, aged 9 to 19 years old, of both sexes, students in middle and high school, attending a State School, were interviewed. It is hoped this research contribute to improve a meaningful learning, using a social emotional approach. Students responded to an interview, which included the following: patient identification, informant data, clinical data, socioemotional aspects and observations. RESULTS: There was a decrease in repetition and dropout with improved learning, in a socioaffective approach. CONCLUSIONS: Affectivity and protagonism have an extremely important role in the construction of cognitive development.
