TABAQUIM, Maria de Lourdes Merighi; LIMA, Marlene Peres de  e  CIASCA, Sylvia Maria. Neuropsychological assessment of subjects with brain injury: a literature review. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2013, vol.30, n.92, pp. 149-156. ISSN 0103-8486.

OBJECTIVE: This article aims to present a review of neuropsychological evaluations of children and adolescents with brain injury, diagnosed with cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury, from January 2006 to October 2011. METHODS: In research, we used the database of LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences), Medline/PubMed (National Library of Medicine, Institutes of Health) and SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). RESULTS: Twenty-eight studies, being 26 international and 2 national articles, and 4 on cerebral palsy and 24 traumatic brain injury were identified. The results showed that neuropsychological assessment is often used to identify performance and behavioral sequelae arising in children and adolescents after insult, with a focus on understanding intelligence, executive function, memory, attention, language and social skills. The instruments used were more neuropsychological WISC-III and IV, WPPIS, Trail Making Test and Verbal Fluency Test. CONCLUSION: Quantification of publications in the period investigated, related to neuropsychological evaluation with the population of brain injured, was in its infancy, even considering their relevance on the conditions and the evolutionary educational interventional propositions.
