Abstract

SILVA, Giovanna Beraldo de Azambuja; FERREIRA, Tais de Lima  and  CIASCA, Sylvia Maria. Performance evolution of attention and work memory in public and private school students. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2014, vol.31, n.96, pp. 254-262. ISSN 0103-8486.

The aim of the present study was to observe the evolution and differences in attention performance and work memory in public and private students with one year interval between assessments. The data was based on analysis of 3 subtests results, namely Coding, Symbol Search and Cancellation, of WISC -IV (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-IV). The subtests were applied into a group of 12 female of 7 years old students. After 12 months, a new assessment was performed. It was observed that regardless of the type of school, children showed progress with improvement in their results. In the three applied subtests was observed this trend even with changes in the level of complexity of the activity. It seems demonstrating that attention and visuo-spatial working memory develops and show enhancement as well as other cognitive processes, along with the development of the child.
